Having a solid craps betting strategy is key to winning craps.  There are a number of different strategies out there but we want to highlite a handful of the best craps betting strategies.

1) Pass Line bet only.  Very simple strategy that requires little money.  Place a Pass Line bet on each “come out” roll.  Hope for the 7 or 11 on the come out.  If a point is thrown, just continue to wait it out and hope the number is thrown again before a seven.

2) Pass Line bet followed up with the maximum free odds bet.  This is the strategy we highly recommend taking.  It’s an addition to the craps betting strategy #1 listed above.  So with this strategy, you place that same Pass Line bet.  If a point is thrown, we now will place a free odds passline bet for the maximum allowed at the craps table. Sometimes this is double the Pass Line bet, sometimes more.  What this does is lower the house edge on the initial Pass Line bet.  So now you sit back and cheer for the shooter to roll your number once again before that dreaded 7 hits.

3) Place Bet on the 6 or 8.  This is probably the easiest craps betting strategy out there and only has a 1.5% house edge which is decent.  This strategy does not require a bet on the “come out” roll.  You wait until a point is hit and then make a Place Bet on the 6 or the 8.  You choose which one (not both).  Now if the number you chose is hit before the 7 is rolled, you will win at 7/6 odds.  An important note, be sure you bet a number that can be divided evenly by 6.  So $6, $12, $18, etc…  Not real exciting huh?  Well, it’s a nice simple strategy for a newcomer who wants to watch a lot of the action with very little risk.

4) Bet your lucky number.  I bet you are laughing right now and we are only halfway serious with this tip.  This is not a suggested strategy if you are really trying to make money at craps in the long run.  But if you like to gamble and are liking the high risks – this is a fun thing to do.  Let’s say your lucky number is 2.  Well the table might pay 30:1 for you if a 2 is rolled.  Have some fun with it and throw some small bets out on your favorite number at times.  Again, this is not very good odds and definitely has a large house edge, but risky gamblers who want that extra “fun factor” might enjoy this strategy.

Please understand that these are only 4 of the endless number of craps betting strategies out there.  It’s important to realize that having a good craps betting strategy can turn a terrible craps player into a solid craps player overnight.  The best general strategy is to minimize the house edge and increase your odds of winning.  Know what you are doing before you jump into a game at the craps table.
