Craps is a basic casino game of chance that originated back in the 1800’s. It started as a basic casino game and has quickly turned into one of the most action packed games at any casino. Not only is it fun but it provides some of the best odds of any game at the casino. Of course, you have to know how to play but once you learn, craps can be quite profitable. Blackjack might be the only game with better odds.
Walking up to a craps table or joining an online craps table can be quite scary if you are new to the game. Typically there are 10+ players including a shooter at a table and these players are all hooting and hollering at every roll of the dice. At first glance you might think it’s way to confusing to learn but on the contrary – it’s quite simple. A craps table is full of many bets that quite simply are not good bets. Resist from making bets that have bad odds. But you may ask, what are good bets and what are bad bets? Read through our site extensively to learn which of these bets have the best odds and which ones have terrible odds. Some people at a craps table may argue with your craps strategy, but math is math. The numbers don’t lie.
Ok, so how do you play this crazy game of craps? The simplest way to get your feet wet with the game of craps is to make a simple, very small, pass line bet. This is the basic most fundamental bet in the game of craps. If the first throw of the dice is 7 or 11, the pass line bet is won. If the first throw is a 2, 3 or 12 this bet is a loss (the shooter rolled “craps”). If the first throw is any other number, known as a point, this number must be thrown again before a seven is tossed for the pass line bet to win. If a seven is thrown before the point, the bet is lost and the dice move to the next shooter. The dice move on to the next shooter around the table. You can roll the dice when it’s your turn or pass and continue to make bets on other peoples roll. This is a very basic and very safe bet in the game of craps. A pass line bet pays even money when it’s won. We recommend giving this a try for a while to get the feel for how craps is played and once you are comfortable, read our craps betting strategies article which covers more in depth bets.
